This is what it takes for me to actually GET to the gym each morning. I’m extremely lucky. I go to an amazing gym with incredible childcare employees who love on my drama baby as much as I do. The workouts are frenetic these days and I’m trying to account for that fact by incorporating quick bursts of cardio, then lifting on repeat bc at any point the kid could lose it or I’d get called to change a diaper or feed her and game = over. When I was 8, I was in the third grade. I was eating fruit loops for breakfast, playing four square at recess, & tucking in my tamagochi at night.
I attribute a lot of my eating disorder to our culture & society. I was obsessed with the idea of looking a certain way because I thought it would make me well liked, successful, happy. I tried ever diet in the book as my body image & relationship with food got worse and worse, until I developed a severe eating disorder that swallowed me whole.
Not all eating disorders stem from society & diet culture, but some do… and mine did.
I can’t imagine being 8, 10, 12, 14 years old, and tracking every food that goes into my body, labeling foods as ‘good’ and ‘bad’. My bff @megeatsworld hit the nail on the head when she said – “it STRIPS children of their INTUITION, and CHILDREN ARE MEANT TO GROW.” I’m not denying that childhood obesity is a prevalent issue in the united states, but I am sure as hell fighting this means of combatting it.
Once a child is told they need to be smaller, once they start seeing food as ‘good’ and ‘bad’ (BTW – the app labels AVOCADOS as bad), once a child starts COUNTING CALORIES… it will be very difficult for them to ever look at food & their bodies the same. Intuition gone. Years of struggle ahead.
Having an eating disorder in the early years of my adult life has shaped me today but I would wish it on nobody, and I can’t believe diet culture is stooping so low as to pull children into this world of numbers and calories.
The thing about eating disorders is that while you can stop the action that charactizes them as disordered (like starving, binge eating, or purging) it is very difficult to untrain the mind and repair one’s relationship with food and with our body image.

Your girl rediscovered the bear complex. Haven’t done it in years but boy howdy did I have fun playing with it yesterday! Little awkward first few rounds, but it came together in the end.

(Okay upon watching the vid my first push press is more of a push jerk... don’t hate, I see it 😂) Throwing around a moderate weight of 95lb here, a challenge but nothing too heavy. 1 complex every 90 seconds for 12 min.
Barbells are good for the soul. This complex reminds me how blessed I am, how wonderful and beautiful my body is in that it can do these things when I am fighting the demons of negative thoughts and emotions. Often, we let what others say of us dictate how we feel about ourselves. My body may not be perfect by society’s standards, but it works hard and is capable of amazing things. She is strong, resilient, and perfectly and wonderfully made. I am still enough no matter what others say.

Got it done in just under 12 minutes. I had to modify the single leg plyo jumps but otherwise good.

30 minutes of rowing is.no.joke. Started off with some 30 secs sprints 🚣‍♀️ and then 2 minute intervals 🥴
I may have definitely slowed down on the last 2 intervals but work is work.
Taking class tomorrow at @rowhouseoldtown, so doing some more rowing then. But the run to class and walk back to work was a nice way to cool down and stretch the muscles 🦵

Counting macros helps to keep you on track, and when you eat out, you can estimate food content, or sometimes even get the real nutritional content from different restaurants. If you didn’t blow your diet out of the water during the day and remain relatively active, you may have room for that steak and side within your macros! #IIFYM

No one likes to hear, “Make healthier choices!” Menus are enticing and can sometimes nag our brain to cave into those giant cravings we may all have for the greasiest, fattiest, highest calorie foods... But, have you ever noticed how even the simplest meat and vegetable taste ten times better cooked for you, than in your Tupperware? Learn about different cuts of meat so you can understand how much fat they have, order the salmon... STICK TO THE BASICS! I promise, it will still be good. Scrolling gets me sad sometimes.. The worst kind of pseudo-motivational post is where ppl imply that the only reason someone doesn't have what they have is coz they 'don't want it bad enough'. It just makes me realise how out of touch these people are with the rest of the population. Like yeah I agree that everyone out here is ultimately responsible for their own goals and progress. But your #motivational post hasn't been used to lift other people up. You have, in fact, stepped on others to lift yourself up 😷 Some of these insta coaches need to check their privilege. Okay so the single mum who has 2 jobs and fuck all spare time/money doesn't want it bad enough? Easy to say that when you have a massive 3 hour gap in your day, where you can train, have plenty of disposable income to spend on supps, coaching, snazzy gyms, and get paid to fucking look good. And if you happen to coach a person like the single mum what do you do? Put her on a 5x p/w training program and give her a cookie cutter meal plan (without even taking a look at what they actually eat) that says shit like, Breakfast: Oats and egg whites. Oats and egg whites?! What the fucking fuck?! You couldn't get me to eat that 🤢 Not everyone is a boring cunt that wants to eat oats and egg whites and bring Tupperware out to the restaurant when they are meeting their friends. Instead of making ppl feel bad about what they don't do. How about encouraging them and reinforcing the good stuff they are doing. Like hey girl, I see your average water intake is up by a litre! G'warn queen! Or hey boy, check out your fibre gains this week 🔥 Why don't we (myself included) give people more information on how to get to where they are trying to go? Why don't we share our struggles and vulnerabilities instead of having a highlight reel? Why don't we show more compassion for people who are struggling with training/nutrition? Why don't we reassure them by telling them yes it's fucking hard, I find it hard too. Instead of saying they don't want it bad enough. I certainly reckon I could do better. 👈🏻 That girl was exhausted all the time, even before pregnancy. Exhaustion was a rite of passage to adulthood... being too tired to do anything. Headaches. The need to “just relax” every night after work. It was what she expected to feel for the rest of her life.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉🏻 This girl has decided on a new life. She decided to stop envying those outdoorsy people who DID things and LOOKED good and woke up excited. She decided to become that person she envied, and works every day to maintain that lifestyle.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

👈🏻 8 months pregnant with my 1st (yes, I still had WEEKS to go here)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉🏻 2 years into being the healthiest I’ve ever been⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👈🏻 That girl was exhausted all the time, even before pregnancy. Exhaustion was a rite of passage to adulthood... being too tired to do anything. Headaches. The need to “just relax” every night after work. It was what she expected to feel for the rest of her life.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉🏻 This girl has decided on a new life. She decided to stop envying those outdoorsy people who DID things and LOOKED good and woke up excited. She decided to become that person she envied, and works every day to maintain that lifestyle.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Y’all she still has a LONG way to go. She still wants to sit on the couch with chips and the remote on the regular, but she knows the life she lives now is better than that. (Some days she downs some Energize and crushes it, and others she eats peanut butter straight from the jar while searching “healthy” recipes on her app. It’s about effort and dedication, NOT about perfection!)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You get to decide. I’m so determined to get back into better habits and a better routine coming back from vacation. The first two days were pretty easy to stay on track but after that it became difficult which was ok. First day back in the gym yesterday and it was prob the worst workout Iv ever done buuuuuuut I went. I jst wanted to make sure I didn’t allow myself to lose motivation or discipline. I hope everyone has a good workout today if it’s not already been one 💛

I don’t want to look back and think...”I could hv eaten that.” I think often times people get caught up in all the things we can’t eat when we are chasing our fitness or health goals. It saddens me from time to time Becuz Iv always said we should jst focus on being healthy. Along with being healthy, happiness is apart of our health. Food brings people together and is usually involved in creating wonderful memories with our loved ones. We should eat whatever we want in moderation so that you can truly enjoy yourself. That may mean eating that salad that you enjoy. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a pizza. However, if it is that pizza, don’t deprive yourself from eating anything at all. One or two meals won’t hurt you. It only hurts us when we let it get out of hand. Just remember to balance and that we all need to indulge every once in a while❤️
