Been feeling like I have workout burnout lately.

Between training 6 to 7 days a week for the sprint and really even from my training before that, I think I burnt myself out a little bit. Every, single workout I would give 110% and push myself to my limits (which it’s definitely not a bad thing to push your limits and kick your own ass in a workout), but I think my body and brain are both ready for a little less pressure.

I went for a bike ride this afternoon for the first time since the race and I simply rode for fun and enjoyment. I wasn’t hyper focused on how fast I was going, what gear I was in, how far I was going; I just was focused on moving my body in a way that made me feel good and soaking in the beautiful day. I think we forget that sometimes just doing the movement that feels good and makes us happy, is plenty. I know I definitely carry workout guilt in several forms - did I workout enough days? Did I push myself hard enough? Did I up the weights enough? Did I do enough reps? Did I move quick enough in my cardio? Did I burn enough calories? Did my heart rate stay high enough? Did I do enough? The constant analyzing and critiquing can be exhausting so I’m taking the time to shower some compassion sprinkles on myself and focusing on just making choices in my movement and food that make me happy and feel good.

Recipe:
To make the baked fries cut sweet potatoes into matchsticks (no need to peel), toss in olive oil, sea salt, pepper, and paprika, and bake on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper at 450F (232C) for 25-30 minutes.⠀

Garlic tahini sauce:⠀
- 1/3 cup tahini, well-stirred⠀
- 1 clove of garlic, minced (or 1/2 tsp garlic powder)⠀
- 3 tbsp lemon juice⠀
- 4-5 tbsp water⠀
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin⠀
- 1/2 tsp cayenne powder (optional)⠀
- salt and black pepper to taste⠀
Whisk together first four ingredients until combined. Add water, a tablespoon at a time, whisking until sauce reaches desired consistency. Add spices and salt to taste. Enjoy!

2 months ago i found out i had a back injury and i wasn’t sure when i could go back to my happy place which is @otfwoodlands. 6 months ago i was a pack a day smoker and didn’t even think i could run at all. I came in with a goal to run 2 miles in class. I crushed that goal with 2.26 miles and raised my average speed by .9 mph. Amazing coaches change the whole game so thank you coach daniella for always pushing me and believing in me. New goal- 2.5 miles!

Intermittent fasting is not for everyone. People who are underweight, or have eating disorders shouldn’t fast. Neither should women who are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or are breastfeeding.

Certain medical conditions can be worsened with longer periods of fasting. Also, people taking certain medications can be prone to side effects with intermittent fasting as well.

One of the reasons people drop out of the intermittent fasting eating pattern is that it’s hard to stick with the fasting part. They eat more than the allowed (low-level of) calories when they’re supposed to be fasting. And when they finish fasting, they may overindulge due to the reaction of the appetite hormones and hunger drive while fasting. None of these will help with weight loss.

Also, the hours and days of fasting can be very difficult. So having strong social support will be key to those intermittent periods of fasting. Sticking to a (healthy, nutrient-dense) weight loss diet is the key to success, and intermittent fasting can be difficult for many people to stick with.

Rumi turmeric & Ceylon cinnamon oat milk latte from @urthcaffe 🌞 I ♥️ me some anti-inflammatory foods/beverages/herbs! Personally, I am trying to once and for all get rid of my candida-driven cough that comes out when I’m sleep deprived, and ensure my hip stays healthy & healed! Turmeric and cercumin are unfortunately not very bioavailable (easily broken down and utilized by your body), but they are very anti-inflammatory, so I try to incorporate in my diet whenever possible :)

Ever tried cluster training? Cluster training is basically to introduce short rests between your reps to be able to get in more reps than you can normally do.. This is used for strength training as well as you are shocking your body since its not how you normally train..

You calculate 90% of your 1RM( 1Rep Max) and do two reps together. Then rest about 10 secs and repeat. In my case my 1RM is 170kg, so 90% is about 150kg which I barely get a 4 or 5 reps out of it.. with cluster training I managed to get 8 reps.. @afunihill

Workout consist of a circuit of 5 exercises with a 10 sec rest in between followed by 1.30 min and then a 2 min rest. I do this circuit for three times..
1- Abs crunch machine.
2- Abs crunch machine for oblique muscles. 15 reps each side.
3- Abs roller..
4- Plate- plate touch..
6- Knee rises..
7- Planque..
