Mac n' Cheese Recipe⠀
1 golden potato, peeled and chopped⠀
1 carrot, chopped⠀
1/4 cup cashews⠀
1/2 cup vegan cheddar shreds⠀
1/3 cup non-dairy milk (or more as needed)⠀
1 tbsp nooch⠀
1/4 tsp salt to taste⠀
pinch black pepper⠀
dash of turmeric and paprika for color⠀
6 oz pasta of choice (I used @eatbanza )⠀

Boil the potato, carrot and cashews for 20 minutes or until soft. Drain any excess water. In a high speed blender add the potato, carrot, cashews and the rest of the ingredients. Blend until you get a smooth, creamy sauce. Drizzle over your pasta⠀

Man, today could have turned out the complete opposite. Started off with going what I thought was light enough with no spotter and FAILED to even get the weight up. This completely bummed me out! Just a few months in and I reached my first goal before my Maui vacation! I’m down 40 lbs. and I feel amazing! the shirt in the pictures is the same but the 1st is a 4XL and today’s is a 2XL!! I still have a ways to go but thanks to my health coach @yourcoachjesse I’ve been able to follow a good diet and barely have any cravings! I can’t believe I let myself go that far, but never again! For those of you that are like me... up and down in weight our whole lives, please get help. Be heathy for yourself and your kids. I needed someone to guide me through my journey and I’ll need her to teach me how to maintain the weightloss. Maintaining the weight off is a completely different science than losing weight. If anyone needs or wants a health coach, I highly recommend Jesse. She has a passion for helping people and is available 24/7 for help when you need her most. She also has some amazing recipes that have helped me tremendously!

I finished my capstone project this weekend which is REAL COOL but I still have 4 papers to write in the next few days and because I got my project done this weekend it also means I didnt really have any time to do anything fun. And my brain hurts from all this extra effort I'm putting it through. Also, I havent been eating very well. Between the heat and the stress I know I wasnt hitting my protien goals and I just wasnt eating much in general this weekend. Except the Atkins indulge candy I probably ate a whole box of those in 2 days.... oops.... Stress eating, am I rite? It's ok, mistakes happen, and I'm going to be better today. -Oh, the essential morning beverage consumed by the masses globally.
-In America, 49% of individuals report as daily coffee drinkers. This results in an average of 1.4 billion kg of coffee purchased per annum.
-Years ago, coffee was seen as a possible beverage of concern. Now, in 2019, coffee is being studied to have a possible ability to lessen chances of developing type 2 diabetes, liver cirrhosis, and even Parkinson’s. Since these diseases have very different pathways of development (i.e cirrhosis is a disease of the liver and Parkinson’s is a neurological disorder), why does coffee have such an effect?
-Coffee affects the liver gene 🧬 CYP1A2, which impacts the enzyme, also known as CYP1A2.
-Current research is showing a divide between two types of alleles of this gene, differentiating coffee drinkers into 2 groups: fast metabolizers and slow metabolizers.
-Coffee has definite performance benefits between both groups: it is positively correlated with an increase in power output as well as capacity to complete more repetitions.
-The “fast” group saw more health benefits from coffee. When consuming 1-3 cups of coffee per day, they gained cardio-protective health benefits (lower risk of a heart attack, heart disease, and high blood pressure).

Since these diseases have very different pathways of development (i.e cirrhosis is a disease of the liver and Parkinson’s is a neurological disorder), why does coffee have such an effect? -Coffee affects the liver gene 🧬 CYP1A2, which impacts the enzyme, also known as CYP1A2. -Current research is showing a divide between two types of alleles of this gene, differentiating coffee drinkers into 2 groups: fast metabolizers and slow metabolizers. -Coffee has definite performance benefits between both groups: it is positively correlated with an increase in power output as well as capacity to complete more repetitions. -The “fast” group saw more health benefits from coffee. When consuming 1-3 cups of coffee per day, they gained cardio-protective health benefits (lower risk of a heart attack, heart disease, and high blood pressure). -The slow group saw a 36% increase in developing high blood pressure and a threefold increase in potential to have a heart attack. -Research is still expanding on this topic, however it is shown currently (2019) to have a multitude of different effects based on the presentation of the 🧬. -I am not an endocrinologist, therefore I do not specialize in understanding the genotypes and metabolic intricacies of these genes. However, a way to sense if you are a “fast” metabolizer is if you feel awakened immediately from coffee. Those that feel the effects slowly tend to be slow metabolizers. -Lets talk ☕️ below ‼️💪🏼
