Here’s a helpful post from my friend @muscleengineered on behind the neck shoulder presses. I am against behind the neck presses since the slight potential benefits are heavily outweighed by the injury risk.

The purpose of going behind the neck is that it may help in activating the delts a bit more, particularly the medial delt. However, it’s really not worth it considering there are other exercises you can do to train those muscles both effectively and safely.

Like I said, the slight benefit (possibly a bit more delt activation) is outweighed by the injury risk. First, going behind the head puts the shoulder in a high five position of abduction and external rotation. This position creates significant strain on the front of the shoulder joint. Second, the rotator cuff is in an awkward position and at risk for impingement. Third, it can stress the cervical region by putting the head into excessive flexion. The increased forward head position combined with the repetitive motion can potentially produce a temporary brachial plexus nerve injury.

Overall, you can do behind the neck shoulder presses if you want. They aren’t inherently “bad.” They simply carry a pretty high level of risk without much, if any, accompanied benefit. Doing your shoulder presses in front of you is safer and effective. Supplement them with some lateral raises and a rear delt exercise and you’ll be training your entire shoulder with less injury risk. Shoulder injuries are fairly common and painfully frustrating. The more you can do to avoid them, the better off you’ll be.

Gotta get on a consistent schedule because I’ve been going back to back on the wrong training days and it’s been slowing me down. Should be on track from next week on.
Learned from last week that my bench would lose a couple pounds after pressing yesterday too, so I was smart enough to adjust that and focus on smooth lifting.
Then I went to deadlift 🥴
I was super hype because I finally hinged properly and setup over the bar with more tension. Once I starting pulling all that nice stuff went away. I’ll definitely keep working to have my hips in a better position and erase the lean over the bar. Unlike my other lifts I tend to deadlift inconsistently every rep looks different than the last. Sometimes I just end up muscling the weight up without using the cues I’ve worked on. On a positive note this is fairly heavy weight for this volume and rpe compared to the past so once I can smoothen out the lift technically it should be looking good.
All about making new mistakes so one fix at a time 👍🏼
Plus no matter how low things seem, at least we aren’t the guy in the background of my bench video LMAO prayers up for that man and his struggles 🙏🏼

Called customer service and they told me it was Amazons problem and they wouldn’t do anything for me. Needless to say, I have no interest in having any Titan products in my garage. Luckily I found this @fringesport bench on Market place for a steal that will hold me over until I can buy a Fringe adjustable bench. Like all things in life, you get what you pay for.

Called customer service and they told me it was Amazons problem and they wouldn’t do anything for me. Needless to say, I have no interest in having any Titan products in my garage. Luckily I found this @fringesport bench on Market place for a steal that will hold me over until I can buy a Fringe adjustable bench. Like all things in life, you get what you pay for.

Performing these chest supported exercises is a great way to isolate the muscle by basically taking the rest of your body out of the equation. This will help you establish that mind muscle connection. As you can see, I keep my knees on the bench, but you can plant one or both feet on the floor for increased stability. I hope you incorporate some of these variations into your next workout! 👍🏻

I walked in the gym today and as I was checking in, the girl at the desk stopped me and said “you’re so pretty” out of nowhere and it made my whole day. Like I was taken back.. The whole point of me sharing this moment of my day is to pass along the message to BE KIND TO PEOPLE!!! Go out of your way to hold the door for someone, compliment a stranger on their hair or their clothes. Do things for people and expect nothing in return. You don’t know what people are going through, and one seemingly tiny act of kindness can touch and change so many lives🌻

Gotta pat myself on the back today for caring enough to plan ahead and track some 'fast food' I had planned on eating. My friend came into town for a concert and we went to @modpizza . They have a list of all nutrition info on their website and I literally sat there and calculated the pizza I was going to get and along with breakfast and lunch, it fit right into my daily allowance of macros. I know there will be some margin of error but I still have some loose room and I left 1 slice. Pretty damn proud of myself. It's the little things. Ending the night with a protein shake.

I’ve been getting really into yoga. I just do it by myself because it’s cheaper and more convenient for me. Lmao
Since I have been weight lifting, my body has become so stiff and I find my body getting very sore for days even though I am taking supplements like glutamine, etc. I realized that I was not stretching enough and I was not lubricating my joints enough. I started doing yoga 4 times a week or whenever I’m really sore. I find free yoga videos online pinpointing my body where I feel sore and these have helped me tremendously!
I workout and the next day I’m super sore so I spend an hour working on stretching that body part. Not only am I becoming more flexible, my soreness is almost completely gone afterwards, and I’m becoming more aware of my body which is helping me prevent injuries while I am weightlifting!
I totally recommend it!
This is a little video I created of me doing my yoga today. (I don’t recommend chewing gum while doing this but I forgot to spit it out and I already got started 😅🤣) This was an hour long session sped up to be 5 minutes.

These deadlifts felt so fucking great today. I pulled my first set of triples at 405 and I honestly thought I misloaded too light. But I went 20 Lbs past my projected weight and totally smashed it. •••
Then we have even MORE deadlifts. 440x5 and they weren’t too bad! I can tell my upper back is stronger than it used to be because I didn’t feel any take over at all. •••
