Little Nightmares (PS4)
I’ve played many games over the years, but have rarely ventured into the world of indie games, so I figured why not go for Little Nightmares, it has some horror elements, it’s a platform game, plus the artwork looked beautiful. Little did I know that this game was very different from the games I usually play, I prefer not to look at it like a game, but more like an experience. The story follows a 9 year old girl named Six, who is aboard a vessel out in the ocean. Here she encounters various characters who are out to eat her, kill her, and turn her into a stone. However, in such a large world, little Six is able to outrun and outsmart all her adversaries. The story can be interpreted in various ways, however I will be keeping this review spoiler free; all I’ll say is that the story is an experience, and to not question too much of what’s going and just enjoy the ride. The gameplay mechanics are fairly simple, quite similar to that of Little Big Planet; jumping, running, and climbing, along with a small lighter to help Six navigate her way through the dark. The visuals in this game are honestly amazing, you can really see the effort the developers put into crafting each scene. Like without a doubt, you could use some of the scenes as backgrounds/wallpapers. The sounds in this game are too real at times, and can be terrifying when in an intense situation, which means that they nailed it. The only problem I’d say I have with the game is that it wasn’t long enough, I got through the game very quickly, and in some ways it makes sense as to why its short, but it finished off with me wanting more.
